Route planning helps you minimize driving time and fuel costs by finding the most efficient order to visit customers. Probase includes a route optimization feature that automatically calculates the best route.
How to optimize routes
For detailed instructions on optimizing routes, see:
Route Optimization
This guide covers:
- Accessing the route optimization page
- Selecting crews and dates
- Assigning appointments to crews
- Running the optimization
- Viewing the optimized route with drive times
- Applying the optimized schedule
When to optimize
Optimize routes:
- At the start of each week for your regular schedule
- When adding new appointments to an existing day
- After rescheduling multiple appointments
- When crew assignments change
Requirements
To use route optimization:
- Crews must have start and end locations configured
- Properties must have valid addresses (geocoded)
- At least 2 appointments must be assigned to the crew for the date
How optimization works
The route optimizer:
- Starts at the crew’s depot location
- Calculates the shortest path to visit all appointments
- Returns to the depot at the end of the day
- Provides scheduled arrival and departure times
- Shows drive time between each stop
The system uses real road networks and traffic patterns to calculate realistic drive times.
After optimization
Once you’ve optimized a route:
- Review the suggested order and times
- Click Apply Changes to save the schedule
- Crew members can follow the optimized schedule throughout the day
The optimized appointment times are saved in the system and appear in the calendar.
